28 herds of stolen cattle recovered in Security agencies’ joint operation in Mutuati
Security agencies from Mutuati sub-county in Meru County in collaboration with local administration and grazing committees from Garbatulla, have recovered 28 herds of cattle that had been stolen from Kulamawe area in Garbatulla sub-county on 10th of July 2023.
According to Julius Mbogori, the Mutuati Sub County grazing committee chairperson, the collaborative move by security agents drawn from Meru and Isiolo counties is meant to tame livestock theft from both sides.
Mr Mbogori confirmed the retrieval of all cattle stolen last week and retaliated that the joint operation involving the two neighboring counties will go one.
“All animals stolen on July 10th have been recovered and the owner can confirm that,” said Mbogori.
Mutuati area has been hit by banditry attacks in the recent past, attacks that have seen several people lose their lives and scores injured.
Insecurity remain a threat to residents despite promises from head of state and the country’s security heads to address the issue.
Isiolo County has on the other hand experienced a replica of the same. Vital sectors such as education have been adversely affected despite there being an active operation aimed at dealing with the banditry menace on the Meru-Isiolo border.
