Early Christmas cheer: Entrepreneur Mwenda Thuranira spreads joy at Hope Children’s Home

Isiolo, Kenya – In a heartwarming gesture that has ignited the spirit of giving this festive season, renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist Mwenda Thuranira visited Hope Children’s Home, calling on fellow business leaders and politicians to extend a helping hand to the less fortunate in society.

Thuranira, the CEO of My Space Properties, took time to comfort and empower the vulnerable children at the facility, expressing deep concern for their challenges in the face of widespread wealth among some local leaders. During his visit, he made an impassioned plea for support, stating, “We are giving not because we have plenty more than others, but for compassion and to set an example in caring for those less fortunate.”

With the backdrop of his recent announcement to run for the Isiolo North parliamentary seat—a position he narrowly lost in the 2022 elections—Thuranira emphasized that his philanthropic initiatives stem from a genuine desire to give back to the community, devoid of any political motives.

“We can create smiles for those who need it most this season,” he urged, urging affluent members of the community to lend their support.

Hope Children’s Home, currently caring for 139 children, faces numerous challenges, from inadequate dining facilities to a lack of essential services. Pauline Kinyua, the center’s head, highlighted the plight of the children, including one bright student forced to defer their studies due to a lack of university fees, stating, “Bringing up a child is a shared responsibility. We appeal for assistance to ensure these children receive the care they deserve.”

Adding to the message, former Bula Pesa MCA encouraged Isiolo residents to embrace the spirit of giving. “Thuranira embodies true leadership and a heart that values community. While we may have different perspectives, today we celebrate Christmas, not politics,” he said.
