Governor Mwangaza gives 300 scholarships to needy students

Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has disbursed Sh6 million worth of scholarships to 300 needy students.

The occasion which marked the launching of the countywide issuance of the Sh20 million Meru County Scholarship Fund, took place at the Kinoru Stadium on Wednesday, and was attended by parents of the needy learners and various government officials among other dignitaries.

The scholarships were carefully awarded to children from all wards in Imenti North, Imenti Central, and Imenti South Sub-counties to ensure the completion of their education without much hustle.

According to Governor Mwangaza Secondary school students received scholarships worth Sh10,000 each, while college and university students were awarded Sh30,000 each in addition to the bursaries that we disbursed recently.

The Governor emphasized that each of the students will be educated by this fund until they complete their education.

Governor Mwangaza encouraged all student beneficiaries of the scholarship funds to work even harder for better results in their examinations.

The Meru County Scholarship Fund is a project run by Governor Mwangaza’s administration in an effort to improve access to education for all learners in the County regardless of their economic background

Addressing the resident Mwangaza noted that 4,650 needy learners applied for the scholarship but only 974 beneficiaries were selected from what she termed as a painstaking and highly transparent process.

“This initiative is part of my administration’s efforts to improve access to education for all learners in Meru County regardless of their economic background because we recognize that education is society’s greatest equalizer,” she added
