Tharaka Nithi: Ex-Chief found dead near his maize farm
Police in Tharaka Nithi have launched an investigation to establish the cause of the death of Magumoni ex-chief whose body was found close to his maize farm.
The stiff body of Eustice Mutegi, 80, was Wednesday found in Muchatha area near Makuni, about two kilometers from his Magumoni residence.
Confirming the incident, Chuka OCPD Paul Kuria said the administration could not ascertain the real cause of his death until a post-mortem is conducted on his body.
“It’s too saddening. As at now we cannot tell the cause of his death but the primary investigations done by the concerned team at the scene note that his body has some bruises signifying that he may have been killed. The report from post-mortem exercise will certainly lead to next actions,” said Kuria.
Kuria called on area residents to unveil crucial information relating to the former administrator’s death to volunteer it.
Doreen Mukami, a resident said she was shocked when she heard of the unexpected death of the former chief.
“We wanted to take him to the hospital when we realized that he was no longer breathing. I hope the truth will be out as to what led to his death,” said Mukami.
The body of the deceased has since been moved to Chuka Referral Hospital as probe kick off.
