Youth support shifts to Governor Mwangaza amidst past protests

A group of young individuals in Meru has decided to shift their stance from regular protests to expressing their support for Governor Kawira Mwangaza.
These youths have voiced concerns alleging some politicians of offering cash to them to instigate unrest and disrupt local businesses.
James Kirimi, a youth from Imenti North, criticized the ongoing protests and alleged that some local leaders may have ulterior motives for promoting discord.
He expressed a desire for a more constructive political environment in the county.
“We want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. It’s time we stop being used as pawns in a game that harms Meru town and its businesses,” Kirimi stated.
Mbeu Ward MCA Muguna John, who joined the youths at the county headquarters, emphasized the need for unity and collective progress.
He remarked that recent protests seem aimed at undermining the leadership of Governor Mwangaza, particularly due to her status as a female leader.
“Our community has invested significantly in Meru, and we cannot sit idly by while reckless actions threaten our progress. We support Governor Mwangaza and urge the government to promote a supportive environment for all leaders,” Muguna asserted.
He added that the citizens of Meru voiced their support for Mwangaza through democratic means and should allow her the opportunity to steer the county forward.
Additionally, local leader Mike Makarina blasted some politicians that he alleged of fueling protests.
He criticized the notion of using protests as a tactic against Mwangaza’s leadership, especially when court proceedings are ongoing.
“We cannot allow our youths to be misled into demonstrations that jeopardize the region’s economic stability. The community’s interests should prevail over personal agendas,” Makarina remarked.
Edwin Kiongozi, another community leader, reinforced the importance of adhering to the rule of law, stating that any leadership changes must follow proper legal procedures.
“The Meru community deserves stability and growth, and we must wait for the courts to conclude any disputes,” Kiongozi said.
