A new dawn for Kamwimbi farmers as Njuki launches Kavando irrigation project

In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at revitalizing agriculture and fostering self-sustainability, Governor Njuki launched the Kavando Irrigation Project in Igambang’ombe Constituency on Tuesday, heralding a promising future for local farmers.
With a hefty investment of 65 million, the project is set to transform Kamwimbi’s agricultural landscape, enabling residents to cultivate maize and a variety of crops year-round.
Governor Njuki articulated his vision of fostering food security and economic growth, driven by the region’s favorable agricultural climate.
“Irrigation during the winter months provides our farmers with a crucial competitive edge when others may struggle with low yields,” he affirmed.
The governor also addressed pressing infrastructural needs highlighted by community members by pledging funds for the construction of a standard bridge in Riamikuu, improvements to Kataniro Road, and plans for a new dam in Tharia to further support agricultural needs and provide vital water resources for cattle.
In a generous gesture to bolster local farming, Governor Njuki distributed over 1,000 mango seedlings, emphasizing the importance of diversified crops for both income and food security.
He also rallied the community to register with the Sha Social Health Authority, ensuring access to comprehensive health services.
Local leaders echoed the governor’s sentiments, with Speaker of the Assembly John Mbaabu praising the Kavando project for its transformative potential.
“This initiative is a cornerstone for sustainable development; continued investment in infrastructure and agriculture means a brighter future for all,” he stated.
Nominated MCA Zachary Njagi lauded the project’s impact on community livelihoods, commending Governor Njuki’s unwavering dedication to the welfare and progress of the region.
