North Imenti parliamentary aspirant Carol Muriuki has alleged a plot by her political opponents to bar her from contesting in the 2027 general elections.

She claims the scheme includes framing her with charges of terrorism and destruction of property related to the Saba Saba protests, which she says are politically motivated.

Speaking during a Muuga FM radio interview, Carol asserted that she is being targeted for her unwavering support of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and her alignment with the Democracy for The Citizens Party (DCP).

“Once you are charged with terrorism, you can’t travel or engage diplomatically. It’s a political trap,” she said.
The protests left a trail of damage including the torching of Magunas supermarket, destruction and theft at Bei Sawa Supermarket, Selenite and Seven eleven lounge.

Muriuki accused current MP Rahim Dawood of failing North Imenti residents, citing stalled development projects such as the gazetted Thuura Sub County and unfinished tarmacking of roads.

“If he truly had the people’s interests at heart, he would push for these developments adding that she is ready to sign ongoing recall motion against Dawood.

She also criticized the Kenya Kwanza administration’s performance in Meru and Tharaka Nithi, calling on Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to deliver on development promises. “The empowerment program here was a flop, as some people received as little as Sh70,” she said.

Muriuki urged the government to prioritize sustainable empowerment of boda boda riders and small-scale traders (“mama mboga”) by establishing strong Saccos. She also called for the completion of a dual carriageway from Mwea through Embu and Tharaka Nithi to Meru and revival of other stalled infrastructure projects.

Despite the political pressure and legal threats, Carol vowed to remain in the race for North Imenti in 2027.

“Nothing will stop me from serving the people.”
