North Imenti constituency NG-CDF officers when they disbursed NG-CDF cheques to schools
Several headteachers who spoke during a public participation at NG-CDF offices in North Imenti in the company of area MP Rahim Dawood and nominated MP Dorothy Muthoni said it would be painful if the fund is not entirely controlled by MPs.Muthoni commended MP Dawood for construction of classes at Gitoro Primary school where she schooled.
“I am not campaigning for these funds but due to its impact from very transparent bursaries issuance, construction of classes and police posts and stations built using these funds. It should be even increased. Dawood has done an exemplary job, and am sure North Imenti electorates will re-elect you.We are supporting till the day you will willingly leave the seat,” Muthoni said.
Dawood said NG-CDF won’t channel any money from kitty to his pockets but developments will continue to trickle to Mwananchi.
“We are not fighting Governors or Counties, they have their own mandates. Once the fund is enshrined in the constitution, no court will overturn the people’s decision,” Dawood said.
Gilbert Mutwiri said the NG-CDF has permanently changed the face of the school he heads for good.
“The MP built us classes, installed tiles, dug and built toilets and constructed a modern dining hall. It was tiresome and expensive for me to reach out to the ministry to build toilets. When I approached the MP, the toilets were constructed immediately. I oppose scrapping the funds in totality,” he said.
Another from Mwiteria and Mwiteria Primary schools hailed MP Dawood saying there is great transformation in the institution not only through bursaries but also dining hall construction, classes and other amenities.
“If there is no bursary, as a student at Gachanka Day School I would never accomplish my education. We had very dilapidated structures,” a beneficiary of NG-CDF told the panel collecting residents views on constitution amendment bill before the parliament over NG-CDF, (National Government Affirmative Action Fund (Ngaaf) money and Senate oversight funds.
The court declared the NG-CDF funds as unconditional.
