DCP Party’s Meru offices in Makutano officially opened by party leader Rigathi Gachagua.

The Democratic Change Party (DCP) on Friday officially launched its Meru County offices in Makutano town, signaling a major push to strengthen its grassroots presence across Eastern Kenya.

The event was presided over by party leader Rigathi Gachagua, who addressed hundreds of jubilant supporters, party officials, and local leaders. The new office is expected to serve as a political and administrative hub for the party in the region ahead of future elections.

“This is not just an office — it is a symbol of our commitment to the people of Meru,” said Gachagua during his address. “We are here to listen, to serve, and to walk with you toward a better future.”

Gachagua, the former Deputy President, has reemerged on the political scene as a key figure in DCP’s national expansion strategy. His visit to Meru marks a series of similar openings planned across counties, aimed at strengthening the party’s reach at the grassroots level.

The Makutano office is centrally located and will provide a platform for community engagement, party coordination, and leadership training. Local artists and cultural performers added vibrance to the day’s ceremony, which was also attended by ward representatives, community elders, youth leaders, and women’s groups.

Party officials said the opening reflects the DCP’s ongoing rebranding and commitment to inclusive governance, regional empowerment, and youth-focused development.

The launch comes at a time when political realignments are taking shape ahead of the 2027 general elections, and Gachagua emphasized that DCP intends to be a “people-first party” focused on practical solutions rather than political rhetoric.

“This office belongs to you,” he told residents. “Use it to voice your issues, seek help, and shape your future.”

As the sun set over the scenic Meru hills, chants of “DCP! DCP!” echoed through Makutano town — a strong signal that the party’s presence in the region is just beginning.
