Kithure Kindiki on Sunday attended a special worship service and the induction ceremony of Rev. David Muthuia Mwiti as the new Bishop of the Kaaga Synod. The ceremony took place at Kaaga Grounds and was presided over by Rev. Dr. John Maromba.

The event brought together church leaders, faithful, and residents from across the region to witness the induction of Rev. David Muthuia Mwiti into leadership of the synod under the Methodist Church in Kenya.

Speaking during the service, the Deputy President congratulated Bishop Mwiti and wished him success as he assumes leadership of the Kaaga Synod. He noted that religious leaders play an important role in guiding communities, promoting moral values, and fostering unity among citizens.

He urged Kenyans to maintain peaceful coexistence and mutual respect, emphasizing that differences in political opinions should never divide communities. According to the Deputy President, unity and harmony remain essential for national development and social stability.

The Deputy President also commended the Methodist Church for its long-standing contribution to community development. He praised the church’s unique approach of preaching holiness while simultaneously empowering the faithful through education, health, and water development projects, initiatives that have greatly improved livelihoods in many communities.

In support of the church’s work, the government is assisting the Kenya Methodist Church in recovering some of its properties that had been encroached upon. Additionally, the government has released KSh 2 billion as part of the long-overdue capitation owed to Kenya Methodist University, strengthening the institution’s ability to continue offering quality higher education.

The Deputy President also highlighted several key development projects currently underway in Meru Town as the town continues its journey toward attaining city status.

Among the major projects is the upgrade of Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital from a Level 5 facility to a Level 6 referral hospital at a cost of KSh 1 billion, a move expected to expand specialized healthcare services for residents of Meru and neighboring counties.

Additionally, the main fresh produce market at Gakoromone Market is being rebuilt at a cost of KSh 1 billion to provide modern trading facilities for farmers and traders.

Infrastructure development is also set to improve with the construction of 17 kilometres of new link roads within Meru Town, a project valued at KSh 3.7 billion that is expected to commence shortly. The roads will enhance mobility, reduce congestion, and support the town’s growth as it moves toward achieving city status.

The induction ceremony of Bishop Mwiti marked a significant moment for the Kaaga Synod and the Methodist Church community in Meru, reaffirming the strong partnership between faith institutions and government in promoting social development, unity, and progress across the region.
