Famous Tharaka-Nithi tycoon Kiambi Matanka dies
Famous Tharaka Nithi former Senatorial contestant and tycoon Mr Kiambi Kiriro Matanka is dead.
Kiambi who is the director of Patiala Distillers limited-manufacturers of classic alcoholic brands such as diamond ice vodka was confirmed dead by Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki.
According to sources Matanka’s lifeless body was found in his house in Nairobi on the morning of Monday, January 9.
Conveying his condolence message Governor Njuki mourned Mantaka as an industrious, kind, focused hard-working investor from Tharaka Nithi County.
“On my own behalf and that of my government of Tharaka Nithi, I am quite saddened by the sudden death of my long-time friend, Francis Kiambi Matanka. What a beautiful soul he was! He was an asset to our County and Country at large. He was such a progressive person, spending a few minutes with Francis would leave you so motivated and wanting to work harder. My heart goes to his family at this very hard time when no words can describe how they feel,” Mr Njuki wrote on his Facebook account.
The cause of his death is still unknown.
Matanka rose into the limelight in 2017 after he contested for Senatorial seat against the Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki.
He was also blacklisted by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) as having questionable integrity for an accusation of evading tax revenues amounting to Ksh 7 million through his company Patiala Distillers limited.
