Gachagua slams alleged move to Unseat Chief Justice Koome
By Gerald Mukembu
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has strongly condemned the alleged efforts to oust Chief Justice Martha Koome, asserting that the state is targeting her for her steadfast stance against impunity.
Speaking during a church service at PCEA Imenti North in Meru County, Gachagua urged the government to abandon any plans aimed at removing the Chief Justice, describing such actions as attempts to silence dissenting voices.
“There is an even larger scheme to disband the Supreme Court. I am aware of funds allocated through the National Intelligence Service for this purpose. These machinations are orchestrated by the state. We urge the international community to intervene, as all other government agencies, including the National Assembly and the Senate, have already been compromised. Now, they are turning their attention to the Judiciary. Many MPs have been coerced into supporting this failing government blindly,” Gachagua stated.
He highlighted a systematic plan to first remove him from office, then target the Chief Justice, with the ultimate goal of dismantling the Judiciary in preparation for rigging the upcoming general elections.
Gachagua encouraged Chief Justice Koome not to be intimidated and to remain resolute. He called on the international community to monitor the situation in Kenya, warning that the state has effectively captured both the legislature and executive, and is now attempting to control the judiciary.
“We stand with Koome. Attempts to coerce and intimidate her, including withdrawing her security to force her resignation, will not be tolerated. Stay strong; you are doing a great job,” he urged.
Accompanied by several leaders, including Senator Karungu Wa Thang’wa and a number of MPs, Gachagua also addressed the need for unity among the residents of the Mt. Kenya region. He alleged that President Ruto’s attempts to divide the region have ultimately failed.
“Everyone in this country knows what is happening; many are silent witnesses. We are aware of plans by those who oppose the unity of the Mt. Kenya region to sow division for their own interests. Their goal has been to cause chaos among the Kikuyu, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, and Meru communities. If we allow ourselves to be divided, we are finished as a region. We must continue to speak with one voice. A disunited region is inviting danger,” Gachagua remarked.
He concluded by noting that he has been listening to the concerns of the people and will soon announce directions for his political party.
