Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has unveiled bold plans to tackle pervasive yet often ignored health challenges, such as infertility and other sensitive conditions, during a dynamic event at Chuka Referral Hospital.
“We are now equipped to tackle these critical health issues head-on, and you can count on our medical professionals to support you,” the Governor assured residents.
During his speech, Governor Njuki acknowledged the ongoing healthcare struggles facing the nation, including a troubling shortage of doctors, essential medications, and medical equipment.
Undeterred by these challenges, he passionately announced a revolutionary new social healthcare scheme backed by President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“This initiative is designed to provide equitable healthcare access for all citizens, regardless of financial status. Together, we can build a healthier future for our entire community,” he declared, urging residents to sign up for this transformative program.
As part of his commitment to improving community health, the Governor inaugurated a 5-day free medical camp that kicked off on Monday and runs until Friday this week.
In partnership with International Hope Medics, this initiative promises to expand universal health coverage by providing complimentary screenings for conditions like cancer and diabetes.
“I encourage everyone here—and those from neighboring counties to take advantage of these free services. Health is a right, not a privilege,” he emphasized to the enthusiastic crowd.
Dr. Gichuyia Nthuranku, the County Executive Committee Member for Public Health and Medical Services, lauded the Governor’s tireless efforts to enhance healthcare accessibility.
“Governor Njuki’s leadership is pivotal to ensuring the well-being of our community,” he stated, underscoring the Governor’s dedication.
Tharaka Nithi County Assembly Speaker John Mbaabu echoed these sentiments, saying, “His unwavering commitment to uplifting healthcare services is palpable. It is a new dawn for Tharaka Nithi!”
According to him the event marked a monumental shift in the healthcare landscape of Tharaka Nithi, one that signals a future where quality healthcare is a right, not a privilege.
