he Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Interior and National Administration, Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, was warmly received at Kanyakine in Meru County today, where he officiated the unveiling of the new Abogeta Sub-County Headquarters. This momentous occasion marked a significant step in the region’s administrative development as the local community welcomed the new facility aimed at improving service delivery and governance.

In a ceremonial event that attracted a large crowd of local leaders, residents, and government officials, Hon. Murkomen lauded the government’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency of administrative services at the grassroots level. He emphasized that the establishment of the Abogeta Sub-County Headquarters would create a more responsive and accessible government presence in the region.
“This new sub-county headquarters is not just a physical structure; it represents our ongoing efforts to bring government services closer to the people. We are committed to improving the infrastructure that will serve the people of Meru and ensure that their needs are addressed in a timely manner,” said Hon. Murkomen during his speech.
The event was also significant for another reason: the installation of the first Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) for the newly established sub-county. This move aims to strengthen administrative functions, enhance security coordination, and promote local governance within Abogeta Sub-County. The appointment of the DCC underscores the government’s intention to ensure that all areas, including those that were previously underserved, are now effectively represented in the national administration structure.
Hon. Murkomen congratulated the new Deputy County Commissioner, urging them to serve with dedication, integrity, and a focus on improving the lives of the people in the region. “Your role as the first Deputy County Commissioner of this sub-county will be vital in ensuring that the government’s presence is felt and that the administration works in harmony with the local community to foster development,” he remarked.
The community of Kanyakine, along with other Meru residents, expressed their appreciation for the government’s efforts in improving administrative services and infrastructure. Many residents were hopeful that these changes would bring about positive economic growth and improved social welfare for the county and its people.
As the CS’s visit to Meru County concluded, it became evident that the government’s approach to local administration is evolving. By improving infrastructure, governance, and correctional services, the country is taking tangible steps toward fostering a more inclusive, efficient, and rehabilitative national framework.
