Njuki urges residents to embrace inclusive government

Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has called on residents to accept and support the newly appointed Cabinet Secretaries (CSs).
His sentiments come after four opposition members were nominated to President William Ruto’s Cabinet as part of his broad-based government approach.
The Governor made the appeal during the official opening of a new Polytechnic at Kajuki in Igamba Ng’ombe sub-county.
Njuki acknowledged that the unexpected appointment of opposition leaders to key ministries, including Treasury, Mining, Energy, and Cooperatives, may have raised eyebrows.
However, he emphasized that it is essential to recognize the President’s efforts towards inclusivity and national unity.
“It is time for us to move beyond tribal politics and vote based on a leader’s performance, not just to punish or reward individuals. We must support the President’s measures to promote peace, progress, and development in our country.” Njuki said.
The Governor thanked President Ruto for reappointing Kithure Kindiki as Interior CS and invited him to visit the county.
He also expressed his willingness to engage with Kindiki to push for more developments in Tharaka Nithi.
Meanwhile, Tharaka Nithi County Assembly Speaker John Mbaabu praised the Governor for his development projects within the county and urged the government to provide adequate water supply to residents.
In a separate statement, Mbaabu criticized area MP Patrick Munene for allegedly neglecting the needs of intelligent but needy children who cannot access bursary funds or scholarships due to his unavailability.
President William Ruto is expected to visit Tharaka Nithi County today on a mission to launch various developments.
