Nyaki West Member of County Assembly (MCA) Mubichi Kirima has assured residents that long-neglected roads in the area will finally be addressed, citing full support from Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia as the driving force behind the ongoing improvements.
Speaking during the dozing of the Kari Maiga–Kibachia road, Mubichi said the project is part of a larger plan to open up all roads in Nyaki West, many of which have been in poor condition for many years. He pointed out that, for the first time since land demarcation, major steps were being taken to make these roads usable.
“We are working on roads that have never been touched since they were first mapped. In just three months, we’ve completed work in Munithu, are currently in Mulathankari, and I’m almost done opening up all roads in the ward,” said Mubichi.
The Kari Maiga–Kibachia road, located just two kilometers from Meru town, has been a key concern for residents of Mulathankari, who have struggled to access essential services due to the road’s poor condition.

Mubichi noted that the state of the road had made it appear as if the area was hidden in the bush, despite being within the town’s proximity.
He said that as part of the current road upgrade, the team was not just opening roads but would also grade and murram them. He also added that the installation of culverts and bridges to improve drainage would follow.
Beyond the physical work, Mubichi credited the county administration under Governor Mutuma for giving MCAs the mandate to directly identify and present problems affecting residents. He said Nyaki West had suffered quietly for years, but now things were changing.
“Governor Mutuma told us to look at the problems oppressing our people and fix them. That’s exactly what I’ve started doing. We’ve worked in Munithu and Chugu, and now I’m fully focused on the people of Mulathankari, whose road has given them problems for far too long,” he said.
Mubichi also responded to growing optimism over the unity within the Meru County leadership, saying that MCAs and County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) are now working collaboratively to fast-track development. He described this cooperation as a refreshing shift from the divisions that once stalled progress.
He urged residents to continue supporting the Governor’s development agenda, stating that Mutuma had shown real commitment to transforming lives at the grassroots.
“I want to tell the people of Nyaki West that Governor Mutuma told us to work as if we may never get another chance to serve. And I believe he’s a governor who keeps his word,” said Mubichi.
Among the upcoming priorities, Mubichi mentioned a road near Mulathankari Mixed Day School, which students use to access classes. He said the current state of the road poses a risk to learners and pledged that it would be fixed soon.
He thanked Nyaki West residents for their trust and promised to complete their projects fully and professionally without unnecessary drama.
“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve. I won’t disappoint you. We’ll finish all projects properly, quietly, and completely,” he said.
