Police disrupt Kawira Mwangaza’s Okolea Programme in Tigania East

A planned community outreach program, “Okolea,” organized by former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, was abruptly halted today in Kiguchwa Ward, Tigania East, after police used tear gas to disperse residents. The event, intended to provide aid to the less fortunate, has been cancelled.

According to reports, police intervention followed a large gathering of people attending the program. The reason for the police action remains unclear.
Mwangaza, in a Facebook post, condemned the police’s actions, stating that “the police has yet again been used by Politicians to Disrupt a Peaceful Church Charity Event.” She further accused unnamed political figures of being behind the disruption.
In a statement released the day before the event, Mwangaza outlined the planned distribution of aid, including food, clothing, and other essential supplies to the less fortunate.

This incident marks the latest in a string of reported incidents of political tension and interference in Mwangaza’s community outreach programs in the region. Local residents and observers are calling for clarity on the circumstances surrounding the incident .
