During the function, he announced the commencement of KSh 950 million in compensation payments for families affected by wildlife related incidents.
“I want to thank you people for giving me this gentleman called Kithure Kindiki. Now I have a deputy, this one. He understands roads, electricity, the government’s strategy on SHA. He is a responsible person and that is how we are going to change Kenya. He is helping me push this agenda,” said President Ruto.
The president praised Kindiki’s dedication to service, noting that his involvement in national projects is not only visible but also instrumental in achieving the government’s development goals.
“You have seen him in different places helping me push the development agenda. I am very proud that I have a deputy who understands government. Who understands what we are doing in agriculture, infrastructure, education, health and is supportive to the ministers and to me to make sure Kenya is going forward,”
Ruto further lauded Kindiki’s calm and inclusive leadership style, distancing him from divisive political rhetoric and regional biases.
“He is not a person of anger, hatred or tribal. He is a person who understands that the deputy president is not a person of Meru but a person of the Republic of Kenya. That is the man I have and this is what is going to make Kenya progress,” stated the President.
The president cautioned against leaders who thrive on tribalism and hostility, stating that such individuals have no future in modern Kenya.
“Don’t be afraid. People of hatred, tribalism and anger will never get anywhere in Kenya because Kenya does not belong to those kind of people,” he said.
Ruto also commended the elected leaders from Meru county, particularly Members of Parliament, for actively championing development and working closely with the national government.
“I also want to thank your MPs. We are working with them and they are responsible people. They are pushing me more than a wheelbarrow on matters development here in Meru. But we are working together with them,” said President Ruto.
Kindiki’s increasingly visible role in national development and public service has sparked discussion, particularly given his frequent presence in strategic government missions.
His consistent involvement in implementing key policies has earned him both public approval and political attention.
The President concluded by reaffirming his commitment to inclusive governance and national unity, urging Kenyans to reject division and instead rally behind development centered leadership.
