Senator Kathuri’s philanthropic gesture on empowering Meru youths to curb drug abuse.

Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi’s initiative to nature and empower Meru youths has been received with great enthusiasm.
Speakers after the other who spoke at Kariene Primary school grounds during the senator’s award giving ceremony to thousands of youths who had participated in his countywide tournament praised Kathuri saying the sporting activities had reduced crimes, illicit brews uptake and drug and substance abuse.
Kathuri who is also the Senate deputy speaker said he had spent more than Sh700, 000 from his family coffers in awarding more than 58 football teams from Central Imenti constituency.

“I started this empowerment for youths in 2010 to keep them busy and indulged to curb illicit brews and drug abuse. I don’t use a single coin from the government but my family money and friends,” he said.
Meru County Assembly Speaker Ayub Bundi who declared to unseat the area MP Kirima Nguchine praised Kathuri as a charismatic leader.
Kathuri expressed confidence there will be no more noise and drama theatrics that was experienced during the impeached Governor Kawira Mwangaza.
“I have faith Mutuma will deliver. Let us all support and give him ample time. He will restore the lost glory and respect the Meru community deserves,” Kathuri said.
He added that he will continue playing his oversight role and champion the fight to bring more resources into the County government of Meru
Kathuri has called on the Meru County Assembly members to approve Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia’s CECM nominees to enable the governor to actualize the dream of developing the county.
He urged the executive and the assembly to exist cohesively to enhance developments in the County.
