Universities Fund to Disburse Sh4.2 Billion to Support Newly Enrolled Students

The Universities Fund will this week release Sh4.2 billion to public universities to support newly enrolled students across the country.

Acting Chief Executive Officer Edwin Wanyonyi said the funds are part of the 2025/26 financial year allocation aimed at facilitating the implementation of government student funding.

According to Wanyonyi, the disbursement will help universities cater for students who recently joined various institutions, ensuring that learning continues smoothly without financial interruptions.

The move comes as the government continues to implement reforms in higher education funding to ease financial pressure on students and institutions. The funds are expected to support tuition and other learning-related costs for thousands of first-year students in public universities.
