Youths protest outside County Assembly, demanding respect for Governor Mwangaza

In a bold display of solidarity, a group of youths today gathered outside the Meru County Assembly to protest against the planned impeachment of Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

Holding placards bearing the slogan “We say Governor ni Mama”, the youth voiced their strong support for the embattled governor and warned the MCAs against proceeding with the impeachment process.

“We will not sit back and watch our governor be unfairly targeted by those who are jealous of her success. Governor Mwangaza has done a lot for our county, and we will fight tooth and nail to protect her from these power-hungry individuals,” said John Mwenda, a passionate young protester.

The protesters targeted several leaders, including Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi, Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi, and former Meru Governor Kiraitu, accusing them of joining hands with the MCAs to oust Governor Mwangaza.

“We know that these leaders are behind this move to impeach our governor because they are afraid of her popularity. But we will not let them succeed. We will stand by our governor all the way,” said Janice Kathure.

The protesters also commended the Meru High Court for halting the impeachment process pending a ruling on Monday. They called on the court to nullify the planned impeachment process altogether.

In a related development, Governor Mwangaza’s lawyers availed court orders at the County Assembly earlier today, which halted the impeachment debate scheduled for today.

The court had issued an order halting the process pending a decision on a case filed by Governor Mwangaza challenging the impeachment process.

The developments come as a major blow to those seeking to oust Governor Mwangaza, who has been accused of mismanagement and corruption. However, supporters of the governor claim that the allegations are baseless and motivated by political vendetta.

As the drama unfolds, one thing is clear: Meru County will be watching closely as the court delivers its ruling on Monday. Will it be a victory for Governor Mwangaza or a setback for her opponents? Only time will tell.
