Tharaka Nithi: body of dead politician found in an isolated vehicle
Tharaka Nithi politician whose body was found in his personal vehicle in Kanganga village, Embu County on Wednesday is suspected to have taken his life.
Felix Gitari Mbiuki, 60, a contestant in the 2022 Tharaka Nithi gubernatorial seat, was found in possession of a pistol loaded with eight rounds of ammunition while blood trickled from his head.
According to members of his family, Mbiuki left home on Monday, calls to his phone went unanswered later in the week prompting a search.
They would later be informed that he had been found in Mbeere and upon arriving at the said place, they confirmed his identity.
According to residents, his car was seen isolated on the roadside in the morning hours and the politician was found lying dead in the driver’s seat.
“We found a Toyota double cabin car parked on the roadside and upon looking inside, we found a dead man helplessly laying at the driver’s seat,” a resident said.
They later reported the matter to the police, who retrieved the body and took it to the morgue.
Confirming the incidence, Mbeere North Sub-County Police Commander Eric Yego said police have launched an investigation that would help establish the cause of his death.
“I can confirm that the man was found dead in his car and we are on the verge to finding out what transpired,” Yego said.
