The Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders have praised interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki for offering them another administrative unit.
Igembe central sub-county, the second largest populated unit in Meru County gave birth to Kiengu sub-county, in an event that was held on Friday, 22nd September 2023 and graced by the Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.
The new Kiengu sub-county is comprised of Igembe East ward and Athiru Ruujine.
“The Sub – County has come with opportunities for employment to our people, especially the youths and we are very happy for the gesture,” said Linus Kathera, the council chairperson.
Kithera expressed his satisfaction pointing out that residents will be considered in government recruitments in the various jobs such as the Teacher Service Commission (TSC), Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), and Police recruitment among others.
”We are very much grateful that essential services such as registration of persons, birth, and death are brought near to Mwananchi. Those from the lower sides of Kiutine and Mureera will not travel for long distances in search of services which were only available in Kangeta and Maua town.” Kathera added.
Moreover, the council urged the CS to prioritize residents when offering administrative positions in the area.
