Meru DCP Coordinator Dismisses MP Rahim Dawood’s Claims on Saba Saba Protests

The DCP Coordinator in Meru County, Patrick Muriungi, has strongly criticized North Imenti MP Rahim Dawood over remarks linking DCP leaders to the recent Saba Saba demonstrations and destruction of property in Meru town.

Muriungi dismissed the allegations as baseless and politically motivated, stating that the DCP was not involved in organizing or participating in any violent protest activities. He has now called on the MP to record a formal statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) office in Meru to shed more light on his claims.

“If the MP has credible evidence linking our leaders to the chaos, let him present it to the relevant authorities instead of making reckless public statements,” Muriungi said.

The Saba Saba protests, which rocked several towns across the country, saw hundreds of youths take to the streets demanding better governance. In Meru, some businesses were vandalized during the unrest, prompting security agencies to begin investigations into those responsible.
