Meru Urged to Back Kindiki’s 2032 Presidential Bid

Philanthropist and Chuka Igambang’ombe MP aspirant Muthomi Micheni 810

A businessman and Chuka Igambang’ombe MP aspirant, Muthomi Micheni alias 810, has called on the Meru community to unite behind Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, saying the region cannot afford to wait decades to produce a President.

Muthomi who is a renowned philanthropist and a political analyst argued that Prof Kindiki’s bid for the presidency is legitimate, citing his current position as second in command as a strong foundation for a future run.

Speaking during an interview in a TV program, Muthomi dismissed concerns over voting strength, noting that minority communities can still influence national leadership outcomes if they work together.

“It is not a must that Kenya must be ruled by only the populous communities. Minority communities in this country have the numbers. When they come together with others and get support from the populous communities, Kindiki can ascend to the presidency,” said Muthomi.

He expressed confidence that Kindiki could make history as the first President from a minority community, adding that he personally believes in his leadership.

“I am confident I will be at State House in 2032. I have known Prof Kindiki for a long time, and I see him as a leader of integrity with a clean record,” he said.

Muthomi further praised Kindiki’s track record, highlighting his two terms as Senator and his tenure in the Interior Ministry, where he said the Deputy President was widely regarded as a top-performing Cabinet Secretary.

He warned that failure to back Kindiki in the 2027 elections alongside President William Ruto could cost the Meru community a rare opportunity to move closer to the presidency.

“If we make a mistake in 2027, it could take another 40 to 50 years to get near the presidency again,” he cautioned.

Muthomi noted that the community has waited for decades to secure the Deputy President’s position and should remain patient for a few more years to achieve the top seat through Kindiki.

“We have waited for over 60 years to get the Deputy President position. We can wait five more years to get the presidency,” he said.
