Meru Government, Sponsors Praise Kenya Music Festival for Discipline, Economic Boost

The Meru County Government and sponsors have commended the organisers of the 97th Kenya Music Festival (KMF) for a successful event marked by discipline, talent, and a significant economic boost to the region.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia, Meru Chief of Staff Dr. Julius Mbijiwe applauded the festival’s organisers for flawlessly executing the event held at Meru School, Kaaga Girls, and Meru Teachers College.
“We are grateful to all the guests who believed in us. The success of this festival is a result of Governor M’Ethingia’s collaborative efforts with the national government. We congratulate all participants and invite them to explore our unique tourist attractions like the Elephant Maternity at Nkunga Forest and Lake Igombe, which we proudly call the 8th and 9th wonders of the world,” said Dr. Mbijiwe.

“Meru’s hospitality sector thrived, with hotels reaching 120% booking capacity. Equity Bank is proud to support KMF with an annual sponsorship of Sh25 million. We also provided financial literacy training during the event, educating participants on our insurance and loan products,” said Gitonga, thanking Equity Group CEO Dr. James Mwangi for the continued support.
The festival drew approximately 140,000 participants, including 95,000 female learners and 45,000 male learners, alongside 9,000 trainers from across the country.
The closing ceremony on Thursday was graced by Dr. Elyas Abdi Jillaow, Director General of the State Department of Education, who commended the high standards of discipline and artistic growth exhibited during the event.
Kenya Music Festival Chairman Johnson Ngala praised both participants and winners, noting that the festival plays a crucial role in fostering nationalism, cultural appreciation, talent development, and personal growth among learners.
The Meru edition of the Kenya Music Festival will be remembered not only for its vibrant performances but also for its contribution to local development and unity through the arts.
