Road Projects in North Imenti Boost Connectivity, Earning MP Rahim Dawood Widespread Praise
A series of road infrastructure projects spearheaded by North Imenti MP Rahim Dawood are transforming transport and accessibility across the constituency, with residents lauding the developments as long overdue and life-changing.

Ongoing Tarmacking of Meru Level 5 hospital Mortuary-Kooje road
The ongoing tarmacking of Kooje Estate in Ntima East marks a key milestone, with Phase One covering the Mortuary–Kieni Kia Ng’ondu stretch. The project is part of broader efforts to ease mobility and improve road safety for both motorists and pedestrians.
“This marks a major step in improving road connectivity and accessibility in the area,” said MP Dawood during a recent inspection tour.
Local residents say the impact is already visible. Lydia Amisi, a trader from Mjini, described the new roads as a relief after years of struggling to reach Gakoromone Market, particularly during rainy seasons.
“We used to get stuck on the way, but now we can move freely. We thank our MP for hearing our cries,” she said.
Landlords in the area are also welcoming the developments. Kenneth Mwiti, a property owner in Kooje, said newly installed culverts have improved access to residential buildings, making life easier for tenants.
Under Dawood’s leadership, several roads have been completed or upgraded, including the Eastern and Western Bypasses, Ndurumo–Giaki–Miomponi Road, Coca Cola–Kithaku, Kigure–Bypass interlinks, Karumanthi Road, Ng’onyi–Gitebe Road, and Mwithumwiru–Kaaga Boys–Kwa Nthambi Road. Many of these roads have also been paved using cabro blocks.
In addition, North Imenti is set to benefit from multiple new projects under the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), part of a nationwide plan to tarmac 468 roads. Recently advertised tenders include the Bypass–Kwa Angaine–Kirwiro Road, Prison–Marwa–Cathedral–Menany–CJ Koome–Bypass route, Chugu–Kauthene–Irene Road, and the Tutua–Mbaaria–Kirachene–Gitimene–Kiirua–Gitoro stretch.
Residents say the new roads will unlock economic potential, improve market access, and ease travel for students, workers, and farmers alike.
“This is the kind of leadership we need someone who listens and delivers,” said Mwiti.
