ODM Faction Opposed to Broad-Based Government Dismisses Ten-Point Agenda Report as ‘Fraud’

A section of leaders from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) who oppose the broad-based government arrangement has strongly criticized the recently unveiled Ten-Point Agenda Report, terming it a “fraud” meant to mislead the public.

The leaders argue that the report, which was discussed during the joint parliamentary meeting between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and ODM at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, does not reflect the genuine interests of ODM supporters or the broader opposition.

According to the dissenting faction, the report is part of a political scheme designed to legitimize cooperation between President William Ruto’s administration and some ODM leaders allied to Raila Odinga. They claim the document lacks transparency and was prepared without adequate consultation within the party.

The critics further warned that the broad-based arrangement risks weakening ODM’s role as a watchdog of the government. They insist the party should remain a firm opposition voice rather than entering agreements that blur the lines between government and opposition.

Some leaders within the faction also questioned the timing and objectives of the report, arguing that it could be used to justify political deals that were never approved by the party’s grassroots members.

Despite the criticism, supporters of the broad-based framework maintain that the ten-point agenda is intended to foster cooperation on key national issues, including economic recovery, governance reforms, and national unity.

The disagreement highlights growing divisions within ODM over its engagement with the Kenya Kwanza administration, with political analysts warning that the debate could shape the party’s direction ahead of future political contests.
