IEBC Seeks Sh59.3 Million for Emurua Dikirr By-Election After MP Johana Nge’no’s Death

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has requested Sh59.3 million to conduct a by-election in Emurua Dikirr Constituency following the passing of MP Johana Nge’no. Acting CEO Moses Sunkuli said the funds are necessary to cover all electoral preparations, including logistics, staffing, and security.

The by-election comes after Nge’no, who had represented Emurua Dikirr since 2013, tragically died in a helicopter crash on February 28, 2026. IEBC will begin preparations once Parliament approves the budget and issues a writ of election. The constituency now awaits the process to elect a new representative.
