President Ruto Signs Coffee Act 2023, Boosting Coffee Board’s Role

President William Ruto has signed the Coffee Act, 2023, transferring both regulatory and commercial responsibilities from the Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) to the Coffee Board of Kenya.

The move is aimed at strengthening governance in the coffee sector, improving efficiency, and enhancing support for farmers. By consolidating roles under the Coffee Board, the government hopes to boost production, marketing, and overall competitiveness of Kenyan coffee locally and internationally.
