CS Linturi among best performing Kenya Kwanza Cabinet Secretaries

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi is among the best performing Cabinet Secretaries in the Kenya Kwanza administration.

A report of survey done by Infotrack ranks CS Kithure Kindiki top with a 59 per cent score, Education’s  Ezekiel Machogu comes second with 55 per cent while Roads, Transport and Public Works CS Kipchumba Murkomen, his Agriculture and Health counterparts Mithika Linturi and Susan Nakhumicha were ranked in third position with a score of  53 per cent each.

Also in the top 10 are Aden Duale of defence on a score of 52 per cent, Ababu Namwamba (Sports) and Eliud Owalo (ICT) tie with a score of 51 per cent, while Alfred Mutua (Foreign Affairs), Penina Malonza (Tourism) and Alice Wahome (Water) all scored 50 per cent.

The bottom three in the list are David Chirchir (Energy 45 per cent), Florence Bore (Labour) and Njuguna Ndung’u (Treasury) who scored 46 per cent.

Women Cabinet Secretaries in President Ruto’s Cabinet have received poor rankings.

Out of seven women Cabinet Secretaries, six were ranked poorly in their respective roles.

The Cabinet Secretaries who received low scores include Peninah Malonza (Tourism), Aisha Jumwa (Public Service, Gender, and Affirmative Action), and Soipan Tuya (Environment), all scoring only one percent.

Additionally, Alice Wahome (Water), Florence Bore (Labor), and Rebecca Miano (East African Community and Semi-Arid Lands and Regional Development) received a two percent rating.

 The survey was carried out between August 21-23 and involved interviews done to a sample size of 4,000 respondents.

The sampling frame was designed using Population Proportionate to Size guided by the 2019 Census.

With regards to performance by ministries, the Ministry of Interior and National Administration emerged as the best ministry with 56 per cent, followed by Education 55 per cent, Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ministry of Roads, Transport and Public Works, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Health 53 per cent.

The performance survey report comes even as President Ruto marks a year in office today.
