Marriage turns sour as Meru Ex-policeman kills lover
Police in Meru are investigating a case in which an ex-police officer is suspected of killing his lover after a quarrel at his home in Igoki village, Imenti North.
Jackson Mworia Rukunga is suspected of killing allegedly killed his lover, Faith Kinya, 40, on Tuesday morning before surrendering to police.
According to a police statement, Mworia was in his room when his lover dashed in and started packing some of his belongings that include a television set, sewing machine and sander. This prompted a fight that led to her death.
The report further says that the late was found lying in a pool of blood when police officers visited the scene for investigation.
“The body had some head injuries and blood splashed on the floor and wall. Two stools, a stone and a white tablecloth with blood stains were taken as evidence,” the report indicated.
Imenti North police boss Ezekiel Chepkwony said once investigations are completed, the suspect will be arraigned in court.
Area chief, Jeremiah Mugambi revealed that the couple have had domestic disagreements for over 10 years before the deadly incidence occurred.
Mugambi adds that on Monday night before the instance, family members of the suspect reported to him that a gang was terrorizing Mworia. He called the police who were on patrol in the area and they successfully managed the situation.
“We were shocked to hear the sad news the next day because we thought the matter had been resolved,” added Mugambi.
The body was taken to Meru Hospital level five mortuary for post-mortem examination.
