Hundreds benefit from Keylife Medical Camp in Meru County
Keylife Medical Center conducted a free medical camp at its Kauthene facility in Meru County, aiming to enhance access to quality healthcare in the area.
The event attracted over 1,000 individuals who received free consultations, diagnoses, medical tests, and treatments for various health conditions.
Patients from Kauthene, Chugu, Kaithe, and surrounding regions benefited from the camp, addressing ailments such as diabetes, Helicobacter pylori infections, eye cataracts, urinary tract infections, upper respiratory issues, musculoskeletal disorders, and more.
Mr Antony Mbaya Muriira, founder and director of Keylife Medical Center, shared his motivation for establishing the hospital.
“My decision to open Keylife was fueled by a genuine desire to improve healthcare access for our residents. Growing up here, I saw many individuals struggle to get quality medical care, with some succumbing to their ailments before reaching a hospital,” he explained.
Mbaya emphasized that the free medical camp, which offered a range of services from general health check-ups to specialized consultations, reflects the hospital’s commitment to community wellness.
“This is our third medical camp, and it has made a significant impact on the community. My mission is to ensure that no one in Meru has to endure long journeys or financial challenges when seeking medical care. Our facility is equipped with modern technology and staffed by dedicated professionals ready to help. We offer a variety of services, including dental care, minor surgeries, eye clinics, and maternal and child health services, among others,” he stated.
He encouraged local residents to take full advantage of the medical services provided by the hospital.
Dennis Kithinji, a mental health advocate, raised awareness of critical issues like stress and depression within the community.
“Stress and depression have led to numerous health problems, with alcoholism contributing to many fatalities. Tragically, over 800 individuals have died by suicide due to the struggles of depression,” Kithinji noted.
He praised Keylife Medical Center for establishing a mental health consultation room, highlighting its importance.
“Keylife has set a commendable example by offering a space for individuals facing depression to seek help. I urge residents to utilize the resources available at this hospital,” he encouraged.
Residents expressed their gratitude for the initiative, emphasizing the positive changes brought about by having such a facility nearby.
Grace Gakii, a resident, remarked, “This hospital is a blessing for our community. The free medical camp has already made a significant impact, and I am confident that the hospital will continue to enhance our quality of life.”
Hosea Kinyua echoed these sentiments, commending the hospital director for his dedication to serving the region.
“This facility is a much-needed addition to our community. It will provide essential healthcare services that many of us have historically struggled to access, and I believe it will improve the overall health and well-being of our residents,” Kinyua stated.
Located just three kilometers from Meru town along the Meru-Town-Chugu-Kaithe road, the one-year-old hospital is poised to become a vital resource for the community.
