Meru County Assembly Speaker Ayub Bundi
Meru County Assembly Speaker Ayub Bundi has expressed confidence that the Meru economy is immensely thriving due to the strong and close working relationship between Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia and Meru County Assembly.
Bundi said their partnership is yielding enormous fruits which is enabling Meru residents to reap from delegations holding different activities within the County.
The national executive Council (NEC) overwhelmingly voted against Kisumu County for Meru to host the upcoming County Assemblies Sports Association (CASA) Games 2025, which will be held in Meru County from 24th October 2025.
“As the Speaker of the County Assembly of Meru, I extend my warmest invitation to all our visitors. Meru County is honoured to host this prestigious event that brings together county assemblies from across the nation to showcase talent, teamwork, and the spirit of unity,” Bundi said.
This comes just after a month’s time where the 2025 Kenya National Music Festival was held in Meru County from August 3rd to August 16th, 2025, with different sources providing slight variations on the specific dates within that range.
The festival featured over 150,000 participants and took place at venues like Meru School, Kaaga Girls High School, and Meru Teachers Training College.
This led to economic boost to Meru County, with the hospitality sector experiencing unprecedented growth, leading to hotel bookings reaching over 100% capacity and increasing demand for transport services.
Local businesses also thrived as visitors flooded the area, creating significant revenue through increased customer traffic and tourism.
Bundi said the CASA Games are not only about sports, but also about strengthening inter-county relations, promoting healthy lifestyles, and enhancing collaboration among legislative arms of our devolved governments.
“We are committed to ensuring an exciting, safe, and memorable experience for every participant and guest. Let us use this opportunity to foster friendship, celebrate our diversity, and demonstrate excellence on and off the field,” he said.
