Police in Meru are looking for a man who chopped his brother’s hand in a fight over land in a village in Meru County.
The incident happened in Kaurinene village in Antuambui location, Igembe area, and involved two brothers.
Police who visited the scene said they found one Moris Murithi with his right hand cut off while his assailant had escaped the scene. The victim was rushed to hospital and admitted in serious condition.
According to police, Murithi also had a deep cut on his head by the time he was taken to hospital.
Witnesses said the two engaged in a physical fight before the assailant attacked the victim in the wrist area chopping it.
Incidences of domestic violence have been rampant as a villager was killed by a brother in law in a fight over money in the same area of Kanda sub-location Wednesday evening.
According to a police report, Josephat Michubu was hacked by a panga in the head and succumbed to injuries at Nyambene sub-county hospital where he was rushed for treatment.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy as the hunt on the assailant goes on.
Police now want locals to solve disputes amicably by involving the local administration.
