Njuri Ncheke blesses MCAs ahead of bid to impeach Kawira

Members of the County Assembly of Meru have received blessings from the Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders ahead of a fresh impeachment motion against Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

The MCAs’ heads were sprinkled with honey by the elders as an act of blessing and a go ahead to impeach Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

This happened during an event to plant trees in the shrine attended by over 40 MCAs and top leaders led by Environment Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya, Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi, Former Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi and Meru County MPs among other leaders.

Speaking during the event Njuri Ncheke Chairperson Linus Kathera noted that the council is backing the MCAs in their bid to impeach the embattled governor

Kathera warned the MCAs against betraying the course to impeach Kawira cautioning them of the curse by the elders.

“You should be aware that this blessing means you cannot betray or divert from the main course because if you do so you will get a curse,” Kathera warned the MCAs.

This comes as 15 Members of the Meru County Assembly (MCAs) distance themselves from the impeachment motion against Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

Meru MCAs led by Assembly Majority Leader Evans Mawira, the MCAs said they withdrew their support for the governor, expressing disappointment on her leadership.

He said the impeachment process will kick off early next week.

Mawira sentiment were seconded by Abogeta MCA Denis Kiogora who said their efforts to engage with the governor on their grievances has been falling on a deaf ear.
